BlueWing's Kevin Hedge and Ted Gattino Named as Innovators of the Year for 2011 by The Daily Record

Kevin Hedge and Ted Gattino, Managing Partners of BlueWing Environmental Solutions & Technologies, have been named two of 2011's Innovators of the Year by The Daily Record.

Since 2002, The Daily Record has recognized Maryland businesses and individuals who have had a positive effect and tremendous impact in Maryland.

This year’s Innovators will be honored at a reception Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore.

BlueWing Floating Islands Meet 2011 Bay Nutrient Reduction Goals

 

In 2009, the Chesapeake Bay program published a set of Nutrient Reduction Goals for every state in the Bay watershed.  These goals were to be implemented and achieved by 2011, now less than a year away.  Based on the existing scientific studies and known scientific principles of bioremediation, phytoremediation and hydroponics, we have looked at the potential for the Floating Island technology to meet these goals within the Bay watershed.  The information HERE quantifies what Floating Island technology will do to reduce nutrient loads in the Chesapeake Bay, in addition to the invaluable benefits of habitat creation, wave energy attenuation and aesthetics.
